PACKAGING
The rapidly-increasing trend towards self-service in retailing has brought home to astute merchandisers the potency of see-through forms of packaging, says the “N.Z. Manufacturer.” The unique characteristics of polythene film have won for it an important place in the transparent packaging field. In New Zealand, polythene film was first imported and made up into bags. These days, the film is also completely manufactured in the Dominion. The frozen food industry’ was one of the earliest users of poly? thene film in New Zealand. The film is still used almost exclusively for frozen poultry, and other quick-frozen products are also being packed in it.
Fresh fruit and vegetables packed in the film are also popular with purchasers.
