Overseas Tour To Begin Soon
(New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, January 27. The New Zealand women’s hockey team to tour the British Isles and to play in the international tournament at Amsterdam, Holland, will assemble in Wellington on February 11 and sail in the Rangitane for England on February 14.
The team comprises 14 players, the manager (Mrs A. Gooder, of Auckland), and the assistant manager (Mrs C. A. Scott, of Otago).
All members are paying their own expenses, with the exception of the cost of their playing uniforms, which are provided by the New Zealand Women’s Hockey Association.
After matches in England, the team will tour Scotland between March 26 and April 8, will play further matches in Ireland between April 9 and April 14, and go to Wales for about a week. The Amsterdam international tournament is from April 23 to May 8.
On arrival in England, the team will'be the guests of the All-England Women’s Hockey Association and the Scotland, Wales, arid Ireland associations will be hosts for those parts of the tour
The Netherlands association will pay half the team’s hotel costs and all transport to and from the tournament venue. Fifteen nations have entered for the international tournament and the teams have been split into three sections of five teams. In New Zealand’s section will be South Africa, France, Belgium, and Wales. The team will return to New Zealand in inid-July.
