RACING Nasib And Brianbra In Sound Trial Run

Nasib and Brianbra shaped well in a sevenfurlong sprint on the plough at Riccarton yesterday. They are being prepared for the main races at the Canterbury Jockey Club’s summer meeting next week.

Nasib was ridden by T. Wilson, and Brianbra by G. W. Mein.

With a strong north-westerly wind behind them in the home straight they kept up an even gallop on terms to the end. They recorded Imin 31 sec, 52 2-ssec for the last half mile and 38 2-ssec for the last three furlongs. Barney (P. Mcllroy) started with them, but found the pace too solid, and tailed off in the straight. Americus (R. McDonald) and Snack (G. Baldwin) ran from the mile on terms in Imin 44 l-ssec. They ran the first half mile solidly in 51 4-ssec, and recorded 39sec for the lait three furlongs.

Americus has been nominated for the Hornby High-weight at Riccarton next week.

The stablemates Tauntress (W. Hanlin) and Riverwood (P. H. Jones) ran seven furlongs easily in Imin 35 3-ssec. They quickened to run the last half mile in 51 sec.

Olympic Flame (G. W. Mein) ran seven furlongs keenly in Imin 33 2-ssec, the first four in 54 2-ssec and the last four in 52sec.

She has been nominated for the Midsummer Handicap at Riccarton next week and will be one of the best of the lightweights in the field. Olympic Flame has a good record on her home track. The stablemates, Tintagel (G. W. Mein) and Newmarket (R. W. Gould), ran six furlongs in Imin 17sec, the last four in 50 3-ssec. They appeared to do their work well. Slow Start Magic Circle (A. J. Stokes* worked from the seven furlongs in Imin 33 3-ssec. His first furlong was slow, and he sprinted the last six in Imin 18 4-ssec, and the last four furlongs in 51 l-ssec. Royal Regent (P. Graham) was showing just ahead of Whiohau (A. J. Stokes) and was well clear of Strada (B. W. McDonald) finishing six furlongs in Imm 16 4-ssec, the last three in 37sec. Royal Regent, a non-winner, has been runner-up in her last two Noiibelle <Miss F. ’ Kerri worked away easily from the mile and joined Vestment Lady (T. J. Smith) after two furlongs. They sprinted home from there in Imin 16 4-ssec, and from the half mile in 51 3-ssec. Avenge (N. Cowles) took imin 18 3-ssec for six furlongs, but was showing nothing like his best speed. Copenhagen (A. J. Stokes) and Cheyenne (W. Hanlin) stayed on terms for half a mile run in 50sec. They recorded 38sec for the last three furlongs. The stablemates, Pyrites (I. Peters) and Sleat (E. G. Low) followed in 52 2-ssec, the last three furlongs in 38 4-ssec.

Royal Return (G. W. Mein) and Gambol (T. Wilson) . sprinted from the half mile in 49 4-ssec. and finished abreast. _. Romancing (L. McGuire) and Goldwyn (P. Graham) were paired over five furlongs. They recorded Imin 4 4-ssec, and 51 3-ssec for the last half mile. Good Record

Romancing has won three of his last four races. He will attempt to improve that record in the Craven Plate at Riccarton next week.

Allemande (A. J. Stokes), a winner at Washdyke last month, sprinted from the half mile in 51 2-ssec.

The two-year-old Surrend (E. G. Low) followed in 49 3-ssec, and did her work attractively.

Jimmy Hill (W. Hanlin) sprinted five furlongs in Imin 5 2-ssec., the last four in 52sec and the last three in 39 3-ssec.

Keep Time (E. G. Low) dashed home from the three furlongs in 36 l-ssec.

The two-year-olds Roman Maid (N. Eastwood) and Chance Encounter (A. H. Eastwood) sprinted half a mile in 50 l-ssec. The unraced Roman Maid appeared to. be shading her companion at the finish. She is by Summertime from Virgo Maxima rnd is in K. J. Thomson’s stable. Vivien Leigh (R. J. Blair) did well to run half a mile in 48 3-ssec.

Pitch (R. McDonald) led Question Mark (J. L. Coulter) and Breaker (R. W. .Gould) by a length finishing half a mile in 53 l-ssec. Pitch is a two-year-old brother to Accountant, a winner. He is trained by G. H. Murfitt, jun. Shoal (C. McDonald) sprinted the last three furlongs of her work in 41 l-ssec.
