RAIN IN WEST N.S.W.
“Two-Year Need Realised” (N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) SYDNEY, January 27. Soaking rain which has fallen in the last 24 hours in parched western New South Wales would be worth millions of pounds to graziers, pastoral experts said today “This is the rain they have been wanting for two years,’’ one said.
Falls of more than 4in have been registered around Bourke. Another expert said the rain was a “godsend.” The far west had suffered drought conditions for two years, he said. The rain is now clearing in the west, but graziers say they have had enough.
