Churchill May Be Candidate BOURNEMOUTH, January 21
Mr Randolph Churchill .today decided to seek approval as a local Conservative candidate for Parliament. The 47-year-old son of Sir Winston Churchill said he had decided to ask for consideration as a prospective candidate for Bournemouth East. He has made five attempts in 14 years to enter Parliament and been successful once when he represented Preston between 1940 and 1945 Bournemouth East Conservatives have disowned their present member of Parliament (Mr Nigel Nicolson) since he opposed the Anglo-French intervention in Suez in 1956. \ The local association adopted a new candidate. Major James Friend —but he resigned last week. Mr Nicolson has refused to stand down because he believes that the executive of the association does not represent the views of local Conservatives as a whole.
