It could have been ! considerably longer. There will be many disappointments, for failure means not only another year at the same stage of study, but also, very ; often, the separation of firm friends and allies. But at least it clears the i air for thousands of youngsters, and ends some two months of dreadful suspense. For the successful candidates,' it opens up new vistas, new fields of endeavour. The unsuccessful ones have the consolation of knowing they are in vast, and very often good company. School certificate is a fairly stiff test for the average i youngster.
