Waimate Race Entries
. Eleven drivers who competed recently at the Grand Prix at Ardmore will contest the “Waimate 50,” main race on the programme of the championship meeting to be conducted by the South Canterbury Car Club at Waimate on January 31. Eighteen entries have been received for the race, which will count as the New Zealand Championship Gold Star award. Prizes The distance of the race is 65 miles, consisting of 50 laps of a course which includes a section of the main street in the business area. In addition to the first prize of £6O, a trophy Will be awarded by the Association of Car Clubs. The following drivers have entered:— D. Young, Timaru (C. Type Jaguar), T. E. Jenson, Palmerston North (Cooper Climax), J. Palmer, Hamilton (Lotus), F. D. Cantwell, Christchurch (Tojeiro Jaguar), K. Harris, Auckland (Ferrari), M. Neil, Auckland (Cooper Climax), J. Mansel, Tuakau (Cooper Bristol), R. Thackwell (Cooper), Syd. Cottle, Dunedin (Austin Healey 100).
