WATERSIDERS’ TOURNEY
Lyttelton Cricketers Have Win (New Zealand Press Association) INVERCARGILL, January 21. The Bluff and Lyttelton cricket teams recorded first-innings wins over Timaru and Nelson when play was continued in the South Island waterside workers’ annual sports tournament today. Players again sweltered in heat which rose at times' to the high * 70’s. Lyttelton is now In a strong position in the running for the champion cricket team. Today Bluff made 176, to which Timaru replied with 104. Against Lyttelton, Nelson made 104 in its first innings, and Lyttelton replied with 177. * Bowlers at Bluff made a start with the rinks competition, and the opening rounds of the championships were played. The first rounds in the golf championships were also played.
