“Major Role” Of British Firms

"British firms have had a major role in investment in New Zea--1 {and commerce and industry, and there should be future opportunities for investment with our growing population and expanding economy,” said the Prime Minister (Nr Nash) when, he Opened the new factory and offices for -a paper production and distribution firm today.
New Zealand could not extend its productivity except in manufacturing, he said.
New Zealand manufacturers had an obligation to-compare their products with overseas standards. "In the last five years industrial production in New Zealand has increased by 24 per cent, in volume. Production of paper products (stationery, wrappings, etc.) has increased a little less than 90 per cent.” The production of the country’s pulp and paper industry had increased, in the same period, by 348 percent. The manufacture of stationery, cellulose bags, and wrapping papers was grouped for statistics as production of paper products.
