PROMINENT SPORTSMAN
Mr G. G. Graham Leaves City Mr G. G- Graham, well known for his youth work in Canterbury, and a prominent athletics and hockey administrator, will leave Christchurch today to live in Hamilton. Mr Graham has been associated with athletics since 1934, and was a member of the centre’s executive for most of that time. He was a handicapper at Rugby Park until ill health forced him to relinquish the position last year. Mr Graham is a life member of the Cantbrtary Hockey Association and is a past president He was chairman of the grounds committee for many years. He took an active interest in the game and played for "the Sydenham club until he was 54. He first played for the Oxford Terrace club before World War I and then, in turn, played for the Wesley, the Y.M.C.A., and the Christchurch dubs. Youth welfare work has taken db much of Mr Graham’s time and he has been connected with eight boys’ clubs—the Oxford Terrace Baptist, the clubs attached to the Church of England, St. Matthews, St. Luke’s and St. John’s, three Methodist Church clubs and the Roman Catholic St. Christopher Club. He was a member of the YJME.C.A. for more than 30 years and for seven years was a member of its gymnastic corps.
