ELDERLY MAN KILLED
Struck By Bus In Papanui Road
An elderly man was killed yesterday afternoon when he was struck by a bus while crossing Papanui road. He was: John Elder Bennet, aged 72, of 103 Rugby street, St Albans. Mr Bennet was crossing the road from east to west near the St Albans Post Office when he was struck by a Christchurch Transport bus, driven by Mr Robert Aitken, of 22 Heywood terrace.
Youth Dies After Rifle Accident
(New Zealand Press Association) DUNEDIN, January 14. Donald James Geddes, aged 16, of 32 Bathgate road, Dunedin, died in the Dunedin Publle Hospital this morning. He was admitted on November 2 with head injuries after the accidental discharge ot a rifle at his home.
Motor-Cyclist Injured
Head injuries were suffered by a motor-cyclist when he was involved in a collision with a car at the corner of Waltham road and Wilsons road yesterday morning. He is Douglas Otr, of 56 Tennyson street. Beckenham. Mr Orr was taken to the Christchurch Public Hospital by a St John ambulance at 8.33 a.m. and was admitted. His condition last evening was reported at fairly satisfactory.
