A judge coupled a lecture with a pat on the back today and then released four Hungarian refugees Who hurled eggs and pamphlets at the Soviet First Deputy Premier (Mr Mikoyan). Municipal Court Judge Joseph Butler fined the four 100 dollars each on charges of disorderly conduct and suspended- the fines. The defendants' counsel. Mr Michael Feldman, asked for leniency. He told the Court that the Hungarians were “bitter in heart” and did not know how else to express their displeasure when Mr Mikoyan visited Chicago on Friday. Judge Butler told the defendants that "although the visitor might have been unpopular, this Court cannot condonir your action You threw eggs, and one egg could haye caused a riot "We’re proud of you freedom fighters,” Judge Butler said. “But we’re in a country of laws—not Russia. This man. was invited here to see if we could reach agreement” Judge Butler told the men to carry a message to other refugees that they must "fight tn an orderly fashion.”
