SUPERPHOSPHATE PRODUCTION
Mount Maunganui
Works
(New Zealand Press Association) TAURANGA, January 14. The first granulated superphosphate to be produced at. the new Mount Maunganui works of the Bay of Plenty Fertiliser Company came off the production line yesterday, in a trial run of the new granulating plant. Officials of the company were delighted with the quality of the new granulated product which will be on the market at the end of this month.
The works, built for about £1,250,000, have been in operation since last August but so far have produced only powdered superphosphate.
A further trial run of the new granulating plant will take place tomorrow and at intervals until the end of the month. The manager of the company (Mr G. R. Self) said this morning that yesterday’s first trial was most satisfactory and an excellent product had resulted.
