RATIONING IN TWO CITIES
One-Third Cut Imposed

Napier and Hastings milk consumers received only two-thirds of their normal requirements or less today as vendors began rationing in the two cities. Wholesale customers had only half their requirements delivered and the staffs of most shops and offices went without milk for morning and afternoon tea. - The manager of the Hastings milk-treatment station (Mr J. S. Whiting) said that rationing will aimost certainly continue tomorrow. The action of the Hawke’s Bay town milk producers was criticised today by the chairman of the Palmerston North Metropolitan Milk Board (Mr W. B. Tennent, MP.), who said that Palmerston North would do everything possible to see that the full supply to those cities was maintained. Mr Tennent, besides being Mayor of the city, is also a former chairman of the New Zealand Milk Board. Mr Tennent said that the action in limiting supply was a very foolish one, and that the wrong action had been taken in registering a protest He would do his utmost to see that Napier and Hastings did not lack milk.
