BRIDGE WASHED AWAY
Heavy Rain In Lewis Pass
Heavy rain in the Lewis Pass area yesterday aftemdon washed away a Bailey bridge at Handisides creek, about eight miles from the Hanmer Springs Junction, and damaged the construction of a new bridge. The Lewis Pass road has been closed since yesterd-. afternoon. Ministry of Works men began repair work immediately, and the road is expected -to be open this morning.
