Rowing N.Z. SELECTORS CHOSEN
Canterbury Man Included
(New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, January 13. Messrs E. A. Craies, E. R. Lindstrom, and George Thorn have been elected New Zealand rowing selectors for the next two years as a result of a postal ballot of the eight provincial New Zealand rowing associations. Mr Craies is coach to the West End Rowing Club (Auckland), and has coached the Dominion eight-oar championship winners on several occasions He was coach to the New Zealand crew at the 1950 Empire Games. Mr Lindstrom, with his brother, George, twice won the New Zealand pair-oar championships, and won the New Zealand double sculls. For some years he has coached the Canterbury provincial eight. Mr Thorn was a member of the Otago provincial eight which won the New Zealand championships in 1935-36. He was manager of the New Zealand rowing team at the Cardiff Empire Games, pnd was an umpire at Cardiff and at the Melbourne Olympic Games. He was a national selector last year.
