MOTORS

LAST MONTH two Chrfctchurch motor-racing drivers, B. M. Moore and M. J. Ellis, drove their Austin 7 Specials from Hamner to Nelson by way of Molesworth. Ute ears, which have specially-strength-ened chassis, water-proofed engines, and two gearboxes each, were little troubled by the rough nature of the country. At right, the ears are shown travelling np the Severn Valley, with the read leading to the left up the Alma river to Tarndale Station. This was the route taken by To Bauperahah force when the Kalapohla Pa was raided. At bottom, Mr Moore is bogged down tat soft ground after fording the Clarence river. .Il II
