KOREAN WAR BILLS
N.Z. And Others Still To Pay
(N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) (Rec. 8 p.m.) WASHINGTON, December 19.
Britain, Australia, New Zealand, and 1 Canada still owe the United States Army for certain food, ammunition and other supplies used by their forces during the Korean war, according to reports quoted by the British United Press.
The reports said that treasury officials from the four countries visited Washington during July and August to see United States Army accounts of the supplies—which are believed to be considerably different from the estimates of the four countries.
But, the reports said, it was taken for granted in Washington the discrepancies were bound to arise during war, and the final figures to be paid will be less than the original United States Army estimates.
