Method Of Selection Criticised
Dissatisfaction with the method of selection used for this year’s minor and sub-associations' Brabin Shield trial team was expressed at a meeting of the North Canterbury Cricket SubAssociation executive. Other minor and sub-associations will be written to suggesting that instead of -the Canterbury Cricket Association making the selections as was done this year a trial match should be held in conjunction with the minor associations’ senior trial match and the team chosen by the minor association’s own selectors. The matter will be brought up for discussion at the next meeting of the minor and sub-associa tions* represen ta fives. Arrangements were reported for a southern tour by a mixed team of promising young players and those with more experience. Three two-day games have been arranged with matches against Geraldine on December 26 and [27, Fareora on December 28 and
29, and Ashburton on December 30 and 31. The team was chosen from nominations made by clubs. The Carleton club will be commended for bringing to the executive’s notice the late ‘arting of its match with Fernside.
