U.N. AGENT FOR HUNGARY

Sir Leslie Munro Mentioned (N.Z. Press Association —Copyright) NEW YORK, December 9. Britain and Australia today led a move to dispatch a United Nations “agent” to Hungary to report back to the General Assembly on conditions in that troubled country. Sir Leslie Munro, the former New Zealand Ambassador to the United States and President of the last General Assembly, was said to be favoured for the job, if the plan were approved. But no final choice has been made and it was not known if Sir Leslie Munro was interested. Sir Pierson Dixon and Dr. E. Ronald Walker, British and Australian representatives, have had frequent consultations in past days on the Hungary problem, which the General Assembly is expected to take up anew on Thursday. Dr. Walker, acting chairman of the assembly’s five-member committee on Hungary, was likely to introduce to the asiembly this committee’s report on developments in Hungary.
