MATRON OF ST. GEORGE’S
Miss M. McKenzie Appointed
Miss Margaret J. McKenzie, who has been Deputy Lady Superintendent of St George’s Private Hospital for the last two years and a half, was appointed Lady Superintendent yesterday at a special meeting of the hospital executive.
Miss McKenzie will succeed Miss Elizabeth Kent-Johnston,
who has resigned after five years’ service in the position. After doing her general nursing training at the Christchurch Public Hospital, Miss McKenzie did her maternity training at Hastings Memorial Hospital. She returned to the Christchurch Public Hospital as a ward sister for six years.
On leave of absence she spent two years overseas, gaining further nursing experience. On her return to New Zealand she went back to the Christchurch Public Hospital as a ward sister until she joined the staff of St. George’s Hospital.
