Vacation Classes Anger Students
(N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) WEST LONG BRANCH (New Jersey), December 9. Students at Monmouth College saw red yesterday over their president’s plan to beat the Russians in education—by holding classes during Christmas vacation. They staged an uproarious demonstration, burned him in effigy and serenaded him under his office window. “Come down, come down from your ivory tower,” the 500 students sang. Upstairs, in his thirdfloor office, the president, Mr Edward Schlaefer, held to his decision.
