Sparrow-Hunt In Shanghai

Shanghai, China’s biggest city, is to stage another sparrow extermination hunt next week-enfl, to follow a successful drive last winter as part of a national campaign.
The seaport’s sparrow elimination headquarters had produced a two-day plan for the new drive, a local newspaper reported. On Saturday the citizens will chase sparrows all day to tire, them out, and then on Sunday the population will pick off the weary birds with shotguns and other weapons. Sparrows are considered pests in Communist China because they eat grain. More than 1000 million were officially estimated killed in las: winter’s nation-wide hunt
