New Sultan Of Lahej
(N.Z. Press AsMeiotton—Copyripht) ADEN. December 8. The Emir Fadhl Bin All ha, been elected the new Sultan of Lahej—biggest of the Western Aden Protectorate States—by all 10 members of the electoral body, it was officially announced in Lahej today. Aged SO, and married but childless, the new Sultan is usually described as the State's "strong man.” . He was appointed acting sultan last July after Britain banished his cousin, the former Sultan. Sir AU Bin Abdul Karim. Britain then said that Sir All Karim had prior knowledge of the defection of Lahej State troops to the Yemen. British recognition of the new Sultan is expected to be sought immediately.
