WATERSIDER KILLED
50-Foot Fall Into Hold (New Zealand Press Association) NEW PLYMOUTH, Dec. 10. A waterside worker was killed instantly when he fell 50 feet into a hold on the motor ship Haparangi. He was: Raymond Alexander de Malmanfche, aged 46, of 82A Brooklands road. New Plymouth, married with six children. One of several carpenters flooring a layer of tallow casks in the bottom of the hold narrowly missed being struck by Mr de Malmanche. The cause of the accident was not clear tonight. At the time of the accident, Mr de Malmanche had his hand on a sling of hides to steady it as it was about to touch the deck. The hides were being loaded into the forecastle, the door of which . was only a few feet away from the edge of the hold.
