INVERCARGILL WOOL SALE

Slight Easing In Prices (New Zealand Press Association) INVERCARGILL, Dec. 10. All classes of fleece wools offered at the Invercargill wool sale today showed a slight easing on the prices ruling at the last crossbred sale in Wellington, says the official report of the sale, and woolly hogget prices were also lower than those realised at the last Christchurch sale. Oddments are quoted as firm, and the few lots of lambs’ wool and scoured types sold well. The report says that the sale opened before a fully representative bench of buyers. The offering of fleece wool was predominantly woolly hoggets, and these, although attractive in the main, did not open up as nicely as in some other seasons, a fair proportion being dusty and tender. Other fleece wools also showed the effects of the season, and some shortness of staple oddments carried traces of-mud. The buying was well spread, with Bradford taking the woolly hoggets and top-making wools and Continental buyers their share of these types and most of the oddments.. American interests were operating oh the coarse crossbred wools. ' pie New Zealand Wool Commission, although called on regularly throughout the day to make bids, did not buy any quantity and those lots which it did purchase were mainly the shabbier wools.
