(N.Z. Press Association—Copyright)

VANCOUVER, Dec. 9. The Australian coach, Clive Spilsted, said yesterday he would handle Vancouver’s entry in a proposed American Rugby League which is scheduled to start operations early next year. Mr Spilsted, who has lived in Vancouver for two years and coaches a local team, said he has received the Vancouver franchise from the American Rugby League Commissioner, Mr Ward Nash, of Lob Angeles. Plans for the Rugby League were made known last week. Mr Spilsted said it would be a five-team league embracing Houston, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Vancouver, and either Seattle or Portland.

He said it would be professional football as played in Britain, Australia and France.
