Debating Westminster Shield Contest
The National Party’s Westminster Shield debating competition will be held in Christchurch on Saturday. Six teams will compete.
The subject for debate is ‘‘That the emphasis placed, on the Welfare state tends to destroy the initiative and self-reliance of the people.”
Canterbury A, Wellington and Otago teams will take the affirmative; Auckland, South Auckland and Canterbury B. the negative. The judges will be Mr A. C. Brassmgton and Professor H. R. Gray.
