CAR CONVERSION AND THEFT
13 Charges Admitted By Youth (New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, Dec. 9. Ralph Ernest Magnusson, aged 20, a university student, of Lower Hutt, pleaded guilty in the Lower Hutt Magistrate’s Court today to 13 charges of car conversion and theft. Detective-Sergeant E. G. A. Rippen said that Magnusson made a practice of leaving home in the early hours of the morning, unknown to his parents, and later climbing back through a window. When he was found last Saturday, he admitted converting five cars, the total value of which was £BlOO, and stealing property worth £154. One of the cars, which overturned and caught fire, was a complete loss. It had been valued at £l9OO. A sanding machine, valued at £9O, which was in the car, was also destroyed in the fire. Damage to the other cars amounted to £5O, and of the stolen property only £llB 10s lid worth had been recovered. Mr J. Drummond, S.M., remanded Magnusson till December 16 for sentence.
