Race Of Giant Natives
(N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) (Rec. 8.30 p.m.) PORT MORESBY, Dec. 8.
Contact has been made again with a giant race of natives who live in the inland areas of New Britain.
A special Administration patrol went into the Passismanua and Gimi divisions to take a census of the population. Patrol Officer D. B. Moorhouse, who stands 6ft 2in in his socks, said today he had often been dwarfed by these people. During a patrol 168 men, women and children of the tribe had been met.
Previous patrols have found it difficult to get in touch with these groups because the people _ displayed great skill in avoiding patrols.
