EVENTS AT GREYMOUTH

Canterbury Stables Succeed (From Our Own Reporter) GREYMOUTH, December 1. Both trotting events at Greymouth today went to Canterbury stables. Alison’s Pride won for F. Murfitt, of Ranigora, and Count Medoro for W. R. Butt, of Templeton. After following Highland Heath for a mile, Alison’s Pride took command in the Dobson Handicap and she looked a likely winner entering the straight. However, Skean Dhu, one of the backmarkers, which had obtained a good position half way through the race, threw out a strong challenge and just failed by a nose to catch the leader. Count Medoro which had difficulty in getting clear over the last two furlongs was third, a length away, with Vanimond heading the rest. Omoto Handicap

Form in the first trot worked out well in the last race of the meeting, the Omoto Handicap, in which Count Medoro led from start to finish to win without being extended by three lengths. With four furlongs to travel Alison’s Pride, Skean Dhu and Vanimond began to close the gap on the leader. Once in line for the judge, however, Count Medoro strode right away.
