Fined £30 For Theft Of Petrol
(New Zealand Press Association) GISBORNE, November 19. Two gallons of petrol cost three young men more than £3O in the Magistrate’s Court at Gisborne. Mr L. N. Ritchie, S.M., fined Eric Peter Hammond, aged 18, Derek Frank Holdsworth, aged 21, and Eric Charles Field, aged 21, all workmen, £lO and costs each for stealing 8s lOd worth of petrol. All pleaded guilty. Detective R. H. Harding said accused had trouble with the petrol feed of their own car. They thought by adding more petrol they could improve the flow. A can and a siphon tube were found nearby.
