Committee Hears Applications

Edwards (Crown representative), J. H. Ward, and R. Webb, with Mr L. T. Falconer, as secretary. Mf Weir said that Aldridge was' a trombone player in the band. If Aldridge attended camp it would cause the band considerable inconvenience. Mr Dougall said that Aldridge would be recommended to the Army Department to have his camp training postponed. N. S. Pullin, a flying instructor of the Canterbury Aero Club, was also recommended to the Army for camp postponement by the committee. The chief instructor of the club (Mr I. H. Gunderson) appeared for Pullin. Mr Gunderson said that at present it was the windy season and good flying days were few. “We have to take every opportunity of good flying conditions and we need every instructor,” he said. Other recommendations to the Army Department for camp postponement were made for R. F. Annan, a smallgoods worker, R. Jeffrey, a butcher at Waikari, B. Logan, an accountant, I. B. Campbell, a student, C. M. Hall, a National Airways Corporation employee, and G. B. Sheasby, a baker.
