FROST DAMAGE IN MASTERTON
• (New Zealand Press Association) MASTERTON, November 19. ’ Thousands of pounds worth of damage was done to crops in the ’ district last night by a late frost ’ which caught several market 5 gardeners unawares. ; The largest commercial gardeners in the Masterton area, the Yee brothers, suffered a total 1 loss. Their gardens cover 100 ‘ acres and the damage is estimated at £5OOO. 1 A s.2deg frost was recorded at South road, and it came after • six frost-free weeks. ! For the first time in many t years, there were no frosts in > Masterton during October. The • most recent freeze was on September 26.
