WOMEN’S CLUB
£lOOO For New Rooms
Functions held to raise funds for the purchase of new clubrooms amounted to more than £lOOO during the year, said the president of the Canterbury Women’s Club (Mrs W. D. Bunt) at the annual meeting last evening. About 100 members attended. “When we move into the premises in Worcester street early next year I would like you all to bring a new member to the club,” said Mrs Bunt. The membership is now about 330—a decrease on the previous year. The annual report, containing individual accounts of circle activities, showed that interest was being well maintained. An indoor bowls circle had been established recently and was flourishing. All the equipment—two “greens” and four sets of bowls—had been given by members. Club functions had been well attended throughout the year, said the report. Five long-standing members of the club had died in the year. They were: Mesdames A. Bunz, S. Curry, R. H. Taylor, L. Thomson, and Miss Fanny Wilson. The following officers were elected:—President, Mrs W. D. Bunt; vice-presidents, Mesdames L. P. Bennett. E. McNish, H. P. Wise; committee, Mesdames L. W. Ballan, H. B. Duckworth, R. Redpath, R. G. Garfath, C. Shaw, and Miss V. E. Billens; treasurer, Miss A. M. Black.
