"The Press" Special Service AUCKLAND. November IS Hardboard made in America from New Zealand Pinus insignis by a new process was to be tested in New Zealand, said Mr A. W. Mackncy, general superintendent and chief chemist of New Zealand Forest Products. Ltd., who has returned from the United States, w’here he examined the new’ process. If the new-type hardboard were found suitable for New’ Zealand the process would probably be used in a new’ mill planned by his [firm, Mr Mackney said. | The new’ process, in which the i pulp is handled without water. ] produced a board lighter in colour ithan the type now produced in I New Zealand. It was probably not I quite so strong. New Zealand pine had been used successfully in the new’ process but he would not know whether the board was suitable for New’ Zealand’s high humidity until a sample was shipped here.
