TERRORISTS IN MALAYA
N.Z. Battalion’s Captures

Five Communist terrorists have surrendered to a patrol of the Ist Battalion of the New Zealand Regiment according to a Government statement issued today. The surrenders took place on I October 23 but the news was] withheld for security reasons. The statement said that of 167 terrorists in North Perak on Janu-i ary 16 this year, only 77 remain-: ed in the jungles. A total of 45 had surrendered,! 38 had been killed and five cap-i tured. One other had died of ( sickness and another had been' executed by his comrades. ! An operation, with the code; name “Ginger” and involving! about 10.090 soldiers and police, has been going on in the area since early this year.
Sewerage Tender.— The Christ-! church Drainage Board has! accepted the tender of T. S.. Young, Ltd., of £11.322 for sewer, reticulation in Wainoni road and Marlow road.
