Defence Minister’s Inspection (New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, November 18. The first New Zealand service unit to be inspected by the Minister of Defence (Mr Connolly) on his 10-day visit to Malaya was No. 41 (Transport) Squadron of the Royal New Zealand Air Force. Mr Connolly visited the squadron on Monday at its base at the Changi R.A.F. station on Singapore Island and during his inspection found time to speak to every officer and man in the squadron. Speaking to the squadron. Mr Connolly said he felt proud when lhe Chief Minister of Singapore. Mr Lim Yew Hock, had told him that New Zealand servicemen in Singapore and Malaya were good ambassadors and credit to the Dominion. The R.N.Z.A.F. in Singapore was doing a fine job in Commonwealth defence. On behalf of the people and Government of New Zealand, he said: “Thank you, and keep it up.”
