BOY LOST ON ISLAND
Police Search Of Matakana (New Zealand Press Association) TAURANGA. November 18. No trace was found tonight of r.ine-y ear-old boy. Mahu Pahir.a. reported missing from his -.-me on Matakana Island, at the entrance to Tauranca harbour. The Tauranga police have asked for the use of the police dog "ring used in the Rotochu forest search, and the police hope to eave Tauranga at first light tomorrow morning to continue the The boy. who lives with Mr and Mrs Ted Murray on the island. was last seen about 10.30 a m yesterday. Mrs Murray •r-oked for the boy for several r.-urs from 1.30 p.m. yesterday '.Then he did not return by nightfall. no undue concern was felt, recause it was thought that he -ad decided to stay with some -iher family on the island, as he .-.ad done on other occasions. This morning a search was undertaken by school teachers and high school pupils, and residents of the sland without success, and the Tauranga police were no* : sed tins afternoon. Three constables, under Serzeant J. Williams, left by launch about 3 pm. today. There is a large area of swamp on the "-rm end of the island, and it is feared that the missing boy may rave wardered into it.
