PLANS FOR BLUE
Possible Trip To U.S.
If Blue races up to expectations in Australia, he may be taken to the United States towards the middle of next year.
Mr J. Shelly, of Wellington, part-owner of the horse, said yesterday that no definite plans had been made for Blue. He was almost certain to be campaigned in Ai stralia in the autumn, with rich classic events in Sydney as his main missions.
If Blue raced as well as was hoped, the trip to the United States would most likely follow, said Mr Shelly. Arrangements are in hand for Eddie Cobb, one of the leading trainers in the United States, to prepare him for .his racing there should the trip i eventuate.
Blue was the leading two-year-old pacer last season. He had his first start for the current term in the Riccarton Stakes at Addington on Tuesday, finishing a good third to "ome Lad and Red Cavalier after covering a tremendous amount of extra ground. He is engaged in the New Zealand Metropolitan Challenge Stakes on the second day of the meeting, but his main mission will be the New Zealand Derby Stakes on Saturday week.
