Compensation For Sunburn
(Rec. 10.30 p.m.) SYDNEY, Nov. 12. ■ An inspector at Sydney’s famed t Bondi Beach today was awarded' £65 5s workers’ compensation because he got sunburned. Kevin Burgess, aged 31, told a Court hearing that while on the beach he had developed a skin cancer on his back because he had been •‘over-exposed” to the sun. He had been forced to take leave from his job and enter hospital for treatment. He claimed, in what is believed by Sydney legal circles as the first action of its kind, compensation from his employer, the local council Judge Conybeare found that Burgess* skin complaint receded during the winter, but became worse when exposed to severe sunlight. He awarded the beach inspector £lO 2s 6d a week for six veeks.
