The Postmaster-General and Minister of Railways (Mr Moohan) arrived in Christchurch last evening He wil] spend today in the city on business connected with his portfolios, before going to Greymouth to officially open the new automatic telephone exchange there tomorrow evening. Major W H. Wilson, of the Royal New Zealand Army Service Corps, well known to many members of the 2nd N.Z.E.F as manager of the New Zealand Forces clubs in Bari and Rome, will retired from the Army on Noverhber 29. For the last seven years he has been chiet catering adviser.—(P.A.) Dr. J. F. Loutit, director of a unit at the Harwell Atomic Energy Research Establishment, and Dr. L. H. Gray, director of the British Empire Cancer Campaign radio-biology research unit at the Mount Vernon Hospital, arrived in Auckland yesterday. They will meet scientists in Auckland, Christchurch and Dunedin who are interested in cancer research.—(P.A.) Mr Malcolm. S. Robertson, eldest son of Dr. and Mrs Malcolm Robertson, of Clyde road, has passed the examination for a fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons. London. Advice of this was received yesterday by Mrs Robertson. Mr Robertson is at present an ear, nose, and throat registrar at the University College Hospital. London.
Motor-Scooter Rider Fatally Injured (New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND, November 12. The rider of a motor-scooter which crashed into a power pole at 6.30 p.m. today on a corner at Ellerslie died after admission to Green Lane Hospital. Comet IV Delayed.—A British Overseas Airways Comet IV jet airliner turned back to London today when trouble developed in the windscreen heating system. The plane’s training flight to New York was postponed until later today.—London, November 11.
