N.Z. Butter Exports To West Germany

(N.Z. Press Association —Copyright) BONN, November 12. New Zealand’s acting High Commissioner in London, Mr E. R. Laking, is expected to visit Bonn early next week for talks with the West German Agriculture Minister, Mr Heinrich Luebke. it was learned in Bonn today. Usually well informed sources said it was likely that Mr Laking wanted to discuss his country’s wishes for an expansion of exports to West Germany. New Zealand is West Germany’s biggest butter supplier. Meanwhile the West German economic news service “V.W.D.” reported that West German butter wholesalers had asked the government to tender new butter imports immediately. The wholesalers claimed this was nece’sary to avoid price increases. “V.W.D.” quoted the president of the Bavarian Farmers’ Association as asking the Central West German Farmers’ Association that it should do everything to avoid further butter imports this year.
