Australian Election
Sir, —Dr. Evatt’s offer to resign if the Democratic Labour Party gave its preference votes to the Australian Labour Party belies all newspaper insinuations that Dr. Evatt was solely interested in becoming Prime Minister of Australia. The resignation offer was a magnificent gesture of sincerity, worthy of a great leader. Personally, I hope the offer is rejected, as the Democratic Labour Party’s policy is fighting rightful social evolution, which is now being claimed as human rights by the majority of countries, in this fast-changing new age.—Yours, etc., KIWI. October 24, 1958.
