RACING Ark Royal ' s Easy Win In Main Race At Gore

GORE, October 27. Another brilliant New Zealand Cup trial was recorded by Ark Royal when he won the President’s Handicap, the first leg of the T.A.B. double, on the second day of the Gore Racing Club’s spring meeting today. With a steadier of 9-11, Ark Royal won with something in hand, with his stable companion. Black Star, in third place. The course-trained Palace completed the double to return a dividend of £l6 2s for £l. The meeting was held in overcast, warm weather, with the track hard and fast. There was a large attendance. The totalisator handled £43,742. compared with £40,117 on the second day last year. The total for the meeting was £84,992, compared with £82,867 for the 1957 meeting.
