Foundation Stone Of Karitane Wing At the October meeting of the Christchurch branch of the Plunket Society the president (Mrs A. Rose) welcomed Mrs L. Sisson, president of the Hanmer Springs branch. Final arrangements were made for the laying of the foundation stone of the new wing at Karitane Hospital by the GovernorGeneral (Lord Cobham). The following delegates were appointed to attend the biennia) Dominion conference to be held in Wellington on November 5 and 6:— Mesdames A. Rose, N. M. Peryer, E. J. Cordner, L. Roberts, J. W. Niven, R. L. Jacobsen, C. Thomas, S. McLaughlan, A. H. Hammett, R. A. Armstrong, J. Jeffs, G. Barker, Janet Williams, E. M. Cocks, F. A. Gilchrist and B. Johns. The Charge Sister’s report for the month of September was as ■ follows:—number of new baby cases, 314; number of visits to babies in homes, 2157; number of visits of babies to rooms, 3086; number of babies breast fed when first seen, 181; number of babies artificially fed when first seen, 95; number of miles incurred when home visiting, 2550. The matron of Karitane Hospital reported for the month as follows:—Number of mothers admitted, 14; babies, 21; number of mothers discharged, 9; babies, 20; number of twin admitted, 2 sets; number of premature babies admitted, 11; discharged, 6. The following gifts from country branches were received: Greymouth £BO, Oxford £2O.
