Suspension Of Rider
D. J. Thistoll, rider of Olympic Flame in the Waikuku Hack Handicap at Rangiora yesterday, was found guilty by the judicial committee of the North Canterbury Racing Club of not riding the horse on its merits. Thistoll was suspended to November 10. Evidence was given by the Stipendiary Steward (Mr H. B. Lorigan). Olympic Flame’s trainer, W A. Welton, Thistoll, G. W. Mein, rider of the second horse. Panda, and W. J. Gibbs (In the Bag). The committee found that there were extenuating circumstances, and took them into account in fixing the penalty.
