AUSTRALIAN WOOL SALES (N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) MELBOURNE, October 27. Competition was widespread at the Melbourne wool sales today and there was a full clearance of 16,377 bales. Principal buyers were Japan and the Continent. Rates were fully maintained on those ruling at the close of other centres last week. Crossbred prices:—good to super 60/64’s, 67d; good to super 56’s, 62d; good to super 50’s, 54d. Sydney Sale Values for better style Merino fleece and skirtings were generally unchanged at the Sydney sales, and there was a clearance ot 16.382 of the 16.581 bales offered. Rates generally were unchanged from those at last week’s close ; in Brisbane, although broader types at times were par to 2J per cent, dowif. Comebacks and crossbreds were unchanged. Bidding | was headed by Japan with sup- ; port from the Continent and Britain. Crossbred prices:—good average 64’s, 59d; good average 60 s, 55d. Studholme Junction Stock Sale (From Our Own Reporter) WAIMATE, Oct. 27. Fat cattle met with a sound deI mand last week at the Studholme Junction sale. A moderate entry consisted mainly ol light to mediumweights. Yearlings comprised the ‘ bulk oi the entry of store cattle, i and the demand was steady. Only ’a few pens of fat sheep came for--1 ward, and one line of stores. Prices Fat steers: heavy, £52 2s 6d to I £63 2s 6d; medium, £3B 12s 6d to ; £45 2s 6d; light, £2B 2s 6d to £33 2s 6d.
