There are a small number of vacancies in various branches of the Department in Wellington, Auckland, Christchurch and Palmerston North. The minimum acceptable qualification is School Certificate, and applications should state on the application form the subjects taken in their examination. (Candidates for the examination this year may apply). Applicants should state the type of work in which they are interested. DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE. Interesting work for boys and girls with a minimum educational qualification of School Certificate ( but preferably University Entrance, or sitting this examination this year) is offered at:—Auckland; the Ruakura Research Station. Hamilton; the Rukuhia Soil Research Station, Hamilton; the Animal Research Station, Wallaceville; the Dairy Laboratory. Wallaceville: the Winchmore Irrigation Station. Those appointed will assist in the various phases of research, including chemistry, bacteriology and animal husbandry. Study for a degree in a University centre will be made possible only for outstanding trainees. Normally the location of a Research Station makes a University course impossible. Applicants should preferably be under 19 years of age on Ist January, 1959. N.Z. BROADCASTING SERVICE. There are vacancies for Technical Trainees at various stations in the Broadcasting Service. Applicants should be interested in the technical side of broadcasting.
