Bonds For Small Investors
(Rec. 11 p.m.) CANBERRA, September 28. Special Commonwealth bonds for small investors will be Issued on October 8, the Prime Minister (Mr Menzies) announced today.
Mr Menzies said that the bonds would set new principles in Commonwealth public-borrowing practice. Interest rates would vary from 4 to 5 per cent., depending on how long the money was left with the Commonwealth: holders would be able to redeem them, subject to one month's notice, at varying premiums; and up' to £ A5OOO worth would be available to each cash subscriber.
